Santa Clara, capital of Villa Clara province, was founded on July 15, 1689. It is a province of extensive plains bounded by mountains, rivers and artificial lakes that allow full contact with nature. It is a region with strong attachment to history, reflected on the character of Ernesto Che Guevara, who fought in this area the final action that led to the triumph of the Revolution on 1 January 1959.
The culture has in Villa Clara a significant sample in the musical and artistic: Remedios, the eighth village founded by Spanish conquistadors in Cuba, and the birthplace of the famous Parrandas.
